The Bay Arena Association - Board of Directors' Meeting February 27, 2007
The Late Tony Bowering was the first Director of Officials for the Bay Arena Minor
Hockey Association elected in 1985. Tony remained in that position for several years and
through his efforts our minor hockey officials were well organized and very well
respected province wide.
During his tenure Tony organized and instructed numerous NAHA officials' clinics
locally and provincially and was very active as an official in the Bay Arena particularly.
Tony was a strong supporter of the Bay Arena project and volunteered his help and
assistance on many occasions.
Moved by Wesley Gosse, seconded by Corbett Newman that the Bay Arena Board of
Directors officially recognize Tony for his outstanding and valued contribution the Bay
Arena Community. That the Officials's Room be designated as:
"TONY BOWERING MEMORIAL OFFICIALS' ROOM"
that a suitably engraved plaque and picture or Tony be placed at an appropriate place, that
a formal ceremony be arranged for the unveiling of the plague and picture in Tony's
memory.

Arena Officials Association, have jointly combined to honor the first Referee-in-Chief, and
our friend "Tony Bowering", at the Bay Arena Minor Hockey banquet held on
Wednesday, April 23, 2008. At this time a plaque donated by Images in Slate with the
following reading will be unveiled;
"Tony Bowering"

Placed in Memory by
The Bay Arena Association
Bay Arena Minor Hockey Association
Bay Arena Referees
Also, during the Banquet a showcase will be unveiled and will be placed in the main
lobby of the Bay Arena. The showcase will house Tony's jersey, name bar, whistle,
picture and the annual Tony Bowering Memorial Officiating Award. The reading on the
plaque is as follows: Presented to the official who demonstrates the qualities of
commitment, dedication and reliability both on and of the ice in furthering the
development of the Bay Arena Minor Hockey Officials' Association. The recipient for
2007 was Mark Brophy. At the same time Roy Jones, Kevin Greenland & Jeff Belbin
were acknowledged for their outstanding contributions for the years 1985-2006.
Recipient for 2008 was Kevin Fowler
Recipient for 2009 was Justin Noseworthy
